Travel Time Reporting

Travel time measurement and estimation is needed for short and long term transportation planning, as well as for real-time travel information delivery. The methods used for measuring travel times range from manual observations to automated traffic counters to vehicle tracking. Corporately, Athey Creek Consultants is involved in several aspects of travel time reporting. Projects include the ENTERPRISE Travel Times Best Practices Project – to research and document best practices for travel time prediction and dissemination; and the Minnesota Arterial Travel Time MATT) Algorithm Development Project – to develop real-time arterial travel time prediction algorithm for the Twin Cities area. Through participation in the Integrated Corridor Management Stage 1 activities, Athey Creek has developed a concept of operations and set of requirements for integrating travel times for freeways, arterial, and transit routes for dissemination to travelers.
