IS A DSDS WARRANTED?
For each ITS device, the warrant development process has first identified and researched some of the most common purposes (or uses) of each device. A separate set of ITS Warrants are presented for each individual purpose defined for each device. By organizing the warrants by purpose, agencies considering the deployment of ITS devices can evaluate their intended use of the device (or multiple uses) against the warrants as one step in the process of determining whether or not to deploy the device.
Note: Signs tend to be most effective where there are two lanes or less in one direction of travel.
For DSDS (Dynamic Speed Display Sign) devices, three (3) warrants have been identified to capture the most common uses of this device. While there are other purposes and uses for DSDS, the warrants developed to date have focused on the following three. If you have suggestions of additional DSDS Warrants please let us know click here.
