NCHRP 39-08 Real-time Traveler Information for the Public
Athey Creek Consultants completed a National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Synthesis project 39-08 Real-time Traveler Information for the Public in December 2008. In this project, Athey Creek documented the current state of the practice of real-time traveler information systems in North America and around the world. The research documented items such as travelers’ needs and expectations, current data sources, successful business models, operating costs, and future needs. This project involved a thorough survey of transportation agencies currently operating traveler information systems, and private sector agencies providing services. The NCHRP Panel included experts from the public and private sector.
