Minnesota Arterial Travel Time (MATT) Project

The Minnesota Arterial Travel Time (MATT) Integration project builds upon the practical approach used for many years by Mn/DOT to assess intersection capacity, arterial street progression and movement of vehicles; and to move from an off-line retrospective analysis tool, towards a tool that can be operated in real-time to actively compute travel times along an arterial route and be integrated within the Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC). Athey Creek determined one mechanism for arterial travel time reporting to be an algorithm using ratios of volume to operational capacity (V/C) along individual segments of an overall highway to predict impacts along an entire route.
